During last night’s game, a series of incidents led to another all-out brawl between the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates.
A pitch near the head of Derek Dietrich started the rising tension. It was early this year, in Pittsburgh, that Dietrich’s flaunting of his homerun started round one in this series of brawls.
Tensions hit their peak Tuesday night when Amir Garrett shared words with the Pirates dugout, charged and took a swing at several players. Yasiel Puig could not help himself from getting in the mix, again. Reds Manager David Bell also came back out on the field, having been ejected earlier, to join the party.
Eight ejections came from this fracas and suspensions are sure to come. Puig’s suspension could be the most interesting as he was traded to Cleveland minutes prior to the fight.
