Kyle Schwarber has been the premier lead-off hitter for the Cubs as of late, and he has not disappointed.
Off the very first pitch of the ball game from three-time Cy Young award winner, Clayton Kershaw, Schwarber jacks a bomb to straight-away center field.
In the past seven days, Schwarber has hit a cool .280 with three homers and nine RBIs. The homer tonight is an exclamation mark on the fact that Schwarber should indeed stay as the Cubs premier lead-off guy.
Ever since the loss of Dexter Fowler after the 2016 season, the Cubs and Joe Maddon have looked desperately for a new lead-off guy to fill that gap, but with little success. For the time being, I think it’s safe to say that Schwarber should continue to try and fill the lead-off spot.
