In a welterweight battle at UFC 239, Jorge Masvidal finished Ben Askren with a brutal flying knee just five seconds into the fight.
It was the first loss in Askren’s MMA career, as he now owns a 19-1 record and 1-1 since joining the UFC. He entered the fight as a top-five contender in the welterweight division but will likely fall after this massive loss.
Meanwhile, Masvidal continues making his case for a title shot. The fourth-ranked welterweight fighter, he could face Rafael dos Anjos or Tyron Woodley next for a chance a title chance against Kamaru Usman.
Immediately after the fight, Askren was taken to a hospital for testing. He struggled to get up for several minutes and needed to be helped up and out of the octagon and back to the locker rooms.
