The Golden State Warriors tried to acquire another superstar to their all-time great roster by engaging in trade talks for Paul George. Naturally, the Indiana Pacers wanted a star back in return and demanded Klay Thompson to be a part of any deal. Golden State turned it down due to not wanting to mess with a championship core and George being a free agent next summer.
George revealed the following about the trade talks:
“Yeah, I think that would’ve been the Chris Paul-to-L.A. situation where (the NBA) denied that trade. Yeah, I was aware of it. I would’ve looked forward to it, of just being in a good situation and a chance to compete for a championship. But it didn’t happen. It’s still fun to team up with a special talent and have a chance to compete against that team.”
We are all better off with George joining Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City to hopefully challenge the Warriors.
