Phoenix Suns center Tyson Chandler is finally speaking out on his former team and he does not have nice things to say . Chandler left the Dallas Mavericks in free agency because the team was looking to sign DeAndre Jordan to replace him.
The big man was a key piece to the 2011 NBA Championship but the Mavericks did not re-sign him. In 2014, Dallas brought Chandler back in a trade with the New York Knicks and claimed he was there for the long term but that was obviously proven incorrect after just one season.
Chandler said the following:
“I definitely felt like, after winning a championship and help bring it there, that I was going to be there for the long run. I never heard of a championship team being broken up like that. When they traded for me to come back, I sat at the podium with everybody else and heard them say this was going to be a long-term deal and they weren’t going to make the same mistake as last time and blah-blah-blah. Seven months later, the same thing happens again. But I learned in this business that you can’t trust everybody. That’s why it is what it is.
I saw the bullshit they put out. It’s just bullshit. Just saving face. It was what it was. It was clear. The whole process was going on while I was basically still in the jersey.”
After Jordan broke a verbal commitment to join Dallas, Chandler was already in Phoenix and the Mavericks became officially screwed.
