Trilogy has won three straight games after losing their first two to open the season and now their looking to solidify their roster ahead of the playoffs.
Monday night Kenyon Martin’s team acquired Qyntel Woods from Ball Hogs in exchange for Sam Young in a move that initially looked questionable for both teams.
Ball Hogs later announced that they waived Young following the trade. Young is now free to sign with any other team in the league.
Woods was picked up as an undrafted free agent by Ricky Barry and company after the injury to Jermaine Taylor during their season opener. However, in five games he is averaging just over three points and three rebounds after posting averages of 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds with 3 Headed Monsters a year ago.
Young has averaged over five points a game off the bench and went for a career-high 13 points two weeks ago in Trilogy’s win over Killer 3’s. The 2019 second-round pick could be a valuable bench piece for a contender that is looking for scoring depth.
Unless we see a catastrophic turn of events, Ball Hogs are essentially eliminated from playoff contention. A loss to Triplets last week put them at 0-6 on the season with only three games left to play. Captain Brian Scalabrine has been known to make deals in the past so this move allows Ball Hogs to evaluate players for next season’s roster.
Despite Woods down year, he’s a vet in the BIG3 and has playoff experience from his time last year with 3 Headed Monsters. He was a crucial piece off the bench and will provide length on the perimeter and rebounding for Trilogy.
