The Cleveland Indians decided today to send Leonys Martin to the minors, making room for Aaron Civale to make his major league debut.
After struggling at the plate for a majority of the season, along with an altercation with Francisco Lindor, it seemed like only a matter of time before this move happened.
The real reason Civale is making an appearance is to start in place of Mike Clevenger, who is out for today’s game after rolling his ankle in his previous start.
But this might not be the only move the Indians will make here.
According to Indians President Chris Antonetti, he fully expects them to make more moves, as they don’t plan to have this many pitchers during the rest of the season, barring any setbacks with injured players.
The one major move everyone is and has talked about (shoutout to McNeil and Dan Lukus), is bringing up Bobby “The Assassin” Bradley.
The slugger has been an absolute machine in Columbus so far this season and it was only a matter of time before everything would align for this moment and now, I think it has.
Mercado is the clear favorite at center field and the move now gives more opportunities for Jake Bauers to play more outfield, where he began the season. So moving Martin now seems fitting for the situation at hand. To bring up Bradley makes so much sense, especially if everything does go how I foresee it to unfold.
The first step has officially begun. Now, it’s time to give the Indians some more ammunition into the fire-powered offense, which has been on a tear in the month of June.
Let the fireworks begin!
