As reported by Dave Portnoy, Founder and President of Barstool Sports, there are St. Louis Blues websites and newspapers already celebrating winning the Stanley Cup. The only problem? It hasn’t even happened. The St. Louis Blues are up in the Stanley Cup final series 3-2 over the Boston Bruins. I’m no mathematician but that only adds up to five, which means the series is not over. I double-checked the math and it adds up.
I mean what an all-time cocky move by the Blues. The “official report” is claiming that this was all a programming error and that everything got out by mistake, blah blah blah. Listen, I get it, you’re a new company and you have to be ready to break news as soon as it happens. I get that. But with something this big (the Stanley Cup Final), with the Cup still on the line for a town that’s never won it, that’s an all-time bone-headed move.
In the words of one of my idols, Michael Scott, “I’m not superstitious, but I am a little -stitious”. It would be insane if this all came back to bite St. Louis in the rump. I know that it’s all truly based on the way the players play, but you have to think St. Louis is going to burn this publishing company to the ground if the Blues lose this series.
Thoughts and prayers to The St. Louis Post over the next few days. May the odds be ever in your favor.
