The San Diego Chargers can’t win this year. Sitting at 4-11, the injury plagued Chargers failed yet again, fining Eric Weddle 10k for staying on the field at halftime to watch his daughter perform in week 15 against the Miami Dolphins.
Per Weddle’s agent:
By the way the team fined @weddlesbeard last week for seeing his daughter perform at halftime but we didn't disclose it BC were classy

Nothing more important than this. Especially 0 halftime adjustments in a blowout win at home. Worth the nonsense. pic.twitter.com/splYf7BWUa

With the Chargers up 23-0 before the half, the defense probably didn’t have many adjustments to make.
Either way, Chargers head coach Mike McCoy wasn’t pleased with his defensive star’s decision.
“We have a policy here, and a situation took place two weeks ago at our stadium. So yes, we did fine him. It’s an organizational call. We have a club policy here, and there are certain things we have to do at halftime to make adjustments, and things like that.”
Furthermore. the Chargers have now placed Weddle on IR and will not allow him to join the team in the final week of the season in Denver, citing that the team plane is “too small”.
For a guy who has given 9 years of his life to sport the powder blue, you’d expect more out of the Chargers. Oh wait…it’s the Chargers.
