This weekend in the NFL can only be described as one plagued by injury, but one in particular was beyond malicious. During a special teams play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Lockette was pummeled by safety Jeff Heath and consequently knocked unconscious. Many have questioned the legality of the hit and the majority of experts have called it a dirty play. But let’s be real, that was just a great hit.

Seattle released a statement regarding Lockette’s well being early Monday morning.
“Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette will undergo surgery this afternoon at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas to stabilize ligament damage in his neck that he sustained during a collision in Sunday’s 13-12 win over the Cowboys.”
“Lockette has full motion and feeling in all extremities and the team has announced that his prognosis is good. An update on Lockette’s status will be provided following surgery later this afternoon.”
This surgery unfortunately means that the 5th year return specialist will miss the rest of the season. We pray for a quick recovery and that Lockette has not sustained any lifelong injuries.
