Lathan Ransom, Safety from Salpointe Catholic in Tucson, Arizona verbally committed to Ohio State Tuesday afternoon via his Twitter. Ransom is the No. 76 ranked player in the country according to 247 Sports Composite, as well as the fourth-best safety, and the fifth-best prospect in his state.
BAM! This is a HUGE commitment for first-year head coach Ryan Day, adding to what was already one of the best 2020 classes in the nation. With the addition of Lathan Ransom, OSU has jumped Alabama and LSU in one fell swoop, leaving the Buckeyes in the second spot for the 2020 recruiting rankings.
One of the biggest problems with the Buckeyes over the past few years has been the vulnerability to the big play. Pairing Ransom with Lejond Cavezos and Clark Phillips should help co-Defensive Coordinator and DBs coach Jeff Hafley change this trend.
While being the second class in the nation is great news for Buckeye Nation, Ryan Day doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. With two key running back targets set to commit on the weekend of August 3, 247 Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong predicts that Ohio State will take the No. 1 spot.
