It would be safe to say that the story of the Browns’ OTAs this year has been Odell Beckham Jr. not showing up to them. Well, two days into minicamp and we’re all ready to completely forget any concern we had about him missing out on this training time.
Even Freddie Kitchens, who said that Beckham was missing a lot of valuable time to learn the playbook, would probably agree that he feels much better now. If you haven’t been paying attention to any news from the Browns minicamp, you may be asking, “Why shouldn’t we be concerned anymore?” Now, after having Odell at practice, Kitchens said in a press conference, “Odell looked good. He’s in good shape.” Sweet and simple, but great to hear. How about you check out some of these Beckham highlights from only two days of minicamp:
If I see one of these catches by Beckham during a game for the Browns, I may scream.
Just look at that chemistry between Baker Mayfield and Odell. It’s like they’ve always played together.
If this touchdown reception by Beckham doesn’t get you excited about the season, I honestly don’t know what will. This should be a preview of what I expect to see all season between the two of them.
Am I going a little too far over a few videos that have come out from only two days of minicamp? Maybe, I don’t know.
What I do know is that my excitement just continues to increase more and more every day. If that isn’t true for you, how about some quotes from Beckham with the media at minicamp to get you going?
For one, his goal remains the same: to hang banners.
When talking about Mayfield, he said, “I’m going to have to get adjusted to the speed because he has an arm. He’s throwing that ball hard. Just catching him from the first day, it was like, ‘Wow! This is completely different.’ It just takes time. As I said, we play in September, so it’s a good thing.’’ My favorite quote from Beckham had to be him discussing his excitement to play with the Browns:
If this doesn’t get you excited for Beckham to play with the Browns and forget about him missing OTAs, maybe you prefer the defensive side of the game. In that case, get ready to watch some great battles between Beckham and Denzel Ward throughout practices. On top of it, this will allow Ward to continue to improve as he goes against a top receiver in the league. In minicamp, it’s already shaping out to be a great matchup.
There may be a long time before we get to see any regular season action from Beckham and the Browns, but this will do for now.
