Fox Sports Radio host, Colin Cowherd, created a rift between himself and the Cleveland Browns.
Cowherd fired off several takes pertaining to Mayfield & OBJ, as well as the Browns in recent months. His indifference to Baker Mayfield goes back to a pre-draft interview involving then Oklahoma quarterback not celebrating a touchdown with teammates.
The afternoon radio show host has also been critical of the ever-building hype surrounding the Browns. He criticized owner Jimmy Haslam, and new head coach Freddie Kitchens.
Over recent months, Cowherd has switched his attention to Odell Beckham Jr. He said Beckham wasn’t happy with his trade to Cleveland and would have preferred to be traded elsewhere. He followed up those statements with this Top Ten Career Moments list for OBJ. The list goes as follows:
- The Catch
- Traded to Browns
- Fight with net
- Proposing to net
- Paris hotel room
- Commercial with Eli
- Meltdown in tunnel
- Fight with Josh Norman
- Peeing in endzone (celebration)
Odell Beckham Jr responded by quote tweeting the video offering this initial reply to Colin Cowherd.
“NOWWWW UVE GONE TOOOO FAR…. bro I understand nobody listens to ur show but stop using my name to get clout bro, I let u say and do whatever u want but uve gone to far now. So heres the attention U wanted and desperately needed i see. I had respect for u after talkin on the [phone]”
Beckham went on to offer several more tweets, all stemming from this initial thought. Baker Mayfield also offered his take on the situation via twitter as well.
“Once again, you’re a clown…. now I know you’re just trying to get me fired up. “Most memorable moments”… he’s 26 and his greatest moments are ahead of him. You forget the kids and people he inspires. That goes much further than football…”
Both were less than enthused with the approach Cowherd used in putting this list together.
It is a slow time of the year in the NFL. OTA’s are football in a very loose sense.
Cowherd is very good at getting attention, he is compensated mightily for this ability. He has shown that he does not fear going against the grain with his opinions. These reactions from OBJ and Mayfield are exactly what he is looking for.
There is no real reason to take a shot at OBJ over missing OTAs.
There is little to gain for anyone except Cowherd, who will only increase these types of segments once football season arrives.
