When Rob Gronkowski went down in pain and was carted off the field, the entire landscape changed. It felt like the New England Patriots were losing their advantage as a top tier Super Bowl contender. There aren’t many players in the NFL that impact the game as much as Gronkowski. Even in the games where he doesn’t have huge statistical performances, Gronkowski causes the defense to game plan against him in a way that helps the rest of offense. The Patriots would have had a better chance against Denver if Gronk didn’t suffer the knee injury. Luckily, the Patriots should have him back in time for the playoffs.
