The New York Jets failed to make the postseason but had a great season with a 10-6 record. New York was one of the best teams at making personnel changes and adding new talent. There was one player discussed that didn’t get signed.
Running back Ray Rice has not been able to get another chance in the NFL after his high profiled domestic abuse incident. Jets GM Mike Maccagnan admitted the team discussed the potential of bringing Rice in on multiple occasions:
“We’ve talked about that at various points in time. I’d probably say that that would be one that I would probably have to sit down and talk with [Jets coach Todd Bowles] and [Jets owner Woody Johnson]. But I don’t foresee that at this point in time.”
Obviously Rice was never brought in or even offered a tryout. It will be interesting to see if he gets an opportunity next season.
