NBA Power Rankings Week 1

It’s almost that time. NBA fans you only have to wait another 9 days! Below are the BigPlay NBA Power Rankings for the start of the season.

  1. Golden State Warriors– The Warriors have been to two straight Finals, they were one win away from winning both of them. With the addition of KD, this is a no brainer.
  2. Cleveland Cavaliers– Yes, they are the defending champs, but the Warriors are still a more talented team with the offseason roster moves. If the Cavs don’t win the East, it will be a miracle.
  3. San Antonio Spurs– The greatest PF of all time has retired, but the Spurs still have two of the big three and they still have Popovich. They will be the second best team in a very top heavy west.
  4. Boston Celtics– The youth and talent are pretty much unmatched. What Brad Stevens and the front office have done since the departure of the big three is impressive to say the least.
  5. Los Angeles Clippers– Seeing Chris Paul in his last 5 or so years of his career without a ring is disappointing, but he is on a talented team with a good coach. He will carry this team yet again.
  6. Utah Jazz– The West’s version of the Celtics. Youth, talent, coaching. It’s impressive how the Jazz have rebuilt a once great franchise. Expect the Jazz to make a splash this season.
  7. Charlotte Hornets– The Hornets at 7?! Even with the horrible move of trading Malachi Richardson for Marco Belinelli? Yes, the offense has it’s contributors and with MKG back, the defense will be back to it’s dominant self.
  8. Oklahoma City Thunder– No KD will be a small problem for a Thunder team that will make the playoffs, they won’t compete for a title though. Westbrook wills this team to decent heights.
  9. Toronto Raptors– Another talented and youthful team. The Raptors will be fighting hard to get over the hump known as the defending champion Cavaliers. They can do it, but the focus needs to be on the defensive end.
  10. Houston Rockets– James Harden. That’s all that needs to be said. The Rockets run iso constantly so they have a ceiling lower than the other top 10 teams. They are still threat in the bottom half of the West.
