I’m a big sports video game fan, I mean I live in my parent’s basement, that should be a given. I like to play the “My Career” mode in any sports game I can, mainly because makes me not feel like…well, like I’m not living in my parent’s basement. With the way that video games have been the past five-plus years, the “My Career” modes have been amazing. NCAA Football (RIP, still too soon) had one of the best with “Road To Glory”, MLB The Show has “Road To The Show” which year after year becomes better and better, Madden is still pooping the bed as far as career mode goes but I’d be a fool to say I don’t take the Browns to the Super Bowl every year (won’t need to anymore because of Baker), and lastly, NBA 2K has created the best career mode of all and continues to blow us all out of the water. The interactive story modes, the progression, the level of detail is all great.
There’s one problem, however, and this is with all sports games, is when the same teams dominate and there’s virtually nothing new roster-wise. This is the case every so often with all of these games. It’s inevitable with how sports are nowadays. But there’s nothing I am a fan of more than when a superstar changes teams in the MLB, when Alabama is no longer a cheat code in NCAA, and (my favorite) when the NBA plays musical chairs and everyone’s now on a different team. Good lord, is there anything more exciting than seeing some of the top talent in a different uniform? It sounds so stupid when it comes off the lips, but I get so jazzed up seeing new teams on top!
That’s why NBA 2K is about to be awesome this fall and why it was awesome in 2017 when Chris Paul joined the Rockets (what a disaster they are), Gordon Hayward and Kyrie went to the Celtics (look how that turned out), and Paul George to Oklahoma City. On top of this whirlwind of an offseason, we had arguably one of the most talked about and viewed rookie Drafts of our generation. With Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Ja Morant, and many more start studded young bucks, this year in NBA is definitely going to be worthy of my time. This offseason has been one of the craziest thus far in the NBA and that is going to make NBA 2K20 an absolute unit of a video game this year.
The game is set to release on September 6th but I feel like the “little kid on Christmas” inside of me is going to be on the lookout for all of the YouTubers who get the beta version just so I can see the new guys around the NBA in their new uniforms. Let’s take a look at some of them, shall we?
My word, if those new jerseys don’t give you the shakes (the good shakes) I don’t know what will. You’re probably a wet blanket if that’s the case. Oh wait, I forgot one…
Yeah, that’s better. Anyway, I can’t wait for this years round of Fall video games to come out. I love the start of the NBA, NCAA, and NFL all starting around the same time and emptying half my bank account on those games (if you remember from earlier, I live in my parent’s basement). I am still all in on the MLB season, it’s in it’s truest form right now, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for this fall.
