If you live in the Cleveland, Ohio area you may have noticed that the weather has been poopy-kaka lately. Cold, cloudy, and rainy every day. No sunshine! Well, that could be changing very soon.
Is that Mike Clevinger throwing a baseball?! Could sunshine be in Cleveland’s forecast in the near future?! WHERE IS DICK GODDARD/JEFF TANCHAK WHEN YOU NEED THEM!!!
For those of you that don’t remember, Mike Clevinger sustained a Grade-2 strain (moderate tearing of muscle/tendon fibers w/ moderate functional limitation) to his Teres Major muscle in his back. This occurred while pitching one of his best games of the season on Sunday, April 7th against the Toronto Blue Jays. The injury was said to be so severe that Clev wouldn’t even pick up a baseball for six-to-eight weeks. Well, folks, it’s been less than four weeks and Sunshine is throwing baseballs from 90 feet. God DOES love Cleveland.
This is a beautiful sight for Tribe fans who just lost Kluber to a right ulnar (right forearm) fracture just three nights ago in Miami. We need pitching now more than ever, specifically with our offense still trying to find its groove like a middle schooler navigating through their first wave of hormones.
It’s being tossed around when exactly Clev will be back. According to multiple sources of mine, I’m hearing he will be making his return, if all goes well with his rehab, at the beginning of June. This puts Clev in a solid spot to get some reps at pitcher before the much needed all-star break which will provide some much-needed rest the recovering pitcher.
Here’s to hoping we can get one of our several Cy Young candidates back on the mound sooner rather than later.
