The Cleveland Cavaliers will kick off the NBA season on Tuesday night vs. the Chicago Bulls but it’s unclear if LeBron James will be playing. James has been resting and recovering following an anti-inflammatory injection in his lower back on October 13th.
James said he is optimistic about being cleared to play in time for the regular season opener but he sat out practice again today. The Cavaliers superstar said the following about missing practice:
“Is it by choice? No, it’s not. But it’s the schedule I’m on, and I’m trying to listen to the training staff and not be hard-headed, and I’m going with them. When they tell me I’m cleared to practice, I’ll practice.”
James will likely need to get a practice or two in before playing in an actual game. Cleveland will already be without injured star point guard Kyrie Irving to start the season.
