Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler Reportedly Removing Lakers From Free Agent Destinations Due to LeBron

LeBron James may be the best NBA superstar of his generation, but not every NBA All-Star wants to play with him. Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler will be two of the two top free agents in the summer of 2019 with a chance to realistically switch teams.

Kevin O’Connor reports that both men have lost any temptation to join the Lakers due to not wanting to play on the same team as James.

“There are whispers around the league that neither Jimmy Butler nor Kawhi Leonard wants to play with LeBron, and sources I’ve talked to would be shocked if Klay Thompson left Golden State. That might leave the Lakers with Kemba Walker or Khris Middleton as their top remaining free-agent targets.”

It does make sense considering Leonard and Butler play the same position and have a similar style to LeBron. They would be better off merging with a superstar point guard or big man rather than another forward.
