With the fourth and final preseason game behind us, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released six players to free agency as the 2019 regular season inches closer.
DL Datone Jones, CB Saivion Smith, WR Terrelle Pryor, QB Alex McGough, S C.J. Reavis and LB Connor Strachan were the six players to receive their respective pink slips as the Jags attempt to finalize their 53-man roster.
Four of the six players to be waived came on the defensive side of the ball. In 2017, during the team’s pleasantly surprising run to the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, the Jags’ yard differential and point differential ranked 2nd and 3rd in the league. In 2018, the team saw those numbers drop to 22nd in yard differential and 24th in point differential.
With a new franchise quarterback in Nick Foles and head coach Doug Marrone on the hot seat, it will be interesting to see how the 2019 season goes. The defense will be their strongest unit and will look to support the offense throughout another run to the playoffs.
