Per the Athletics’ Shams Charania, wing Sindarius Thornwell is heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers on a one-year deal. Thornwell was the 48th-overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, spending the last two years with the Los Angeles Clippers. With the Clippers, Thornwell appeared in 137 regular-season games and started in 18 of them. Thornwell’s regular-season averages are 2.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 10.7 minutes played.
Thornwell also has spent time in the G-League, appearing in seven games the past two years. Thornwell has averaged 14.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.7 minutes played during his brief time there.
Thornwell, 24, played collegiately at South Carolina appearing in 132 regular-season games over four years. His college regular-season averages are 14.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.8 minutes played per a game. While at South Carolina, Thornwell was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2014 and was named to the First-team All-SEC and the SEC Player of the Year by the coaches in 2017.
