Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol is heading to Portland on a one-year deal. Gasol is a six-time NBA All-Star and is joining his third franchise in the last two seasons. In those two seasons, Gasol has appeared in 107 regular season games between the San Antonio Spurs and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Gasol’s 2018-2019 season was plagued by injuries, missing time due to a stress fracture in his right foot and an injury to his left ankle. In the 30 regular season games Gasol did appear in during the 2018-2019 season, he averaged 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists in 12.0 minutes played per a game.
This is Gasol’s six franchise in his career. Gasol will be joining a stacked lineup at the five position with Jusuf Nurkic, Hassan Whiteside and Zach Collins wearing the Trailblazers’ uniform. Gasol is hoping to use his championship experience in helping Portland get over the hump and win an NBA championship, something they have not done since 1977. Gasol turned 39 years old on July 6.
