Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Draymond Green is signing a maximum contract extension with the Golden State Warriors. The contract extension does not start until the 2020-2021 season and is worth $100 million dollars over four-years.
In the 2020-2021 and the 2021-2022 seasons, Golden State committed $129 million dollars and $138 million dollars to Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, D’Angelo Russell, and Green. With Green signing an early contract extension, he passed on a much less valuable extension worth $235 million dollars.
Over the next five years, Green is guaranteed $118 million dollars. Green was the 35th-overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, spending all seven years of his career with Golden State. Green has appeared in 533 regular-season games and started in 385 of them. Green’s regular-season averages are 9.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks in 28.1 minutes played.
Green is a three-time NBA All-Star. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2016 and to the All-NBA Third Team in 2017. Between 2015-2017, Green was named to three NBA All-Defensive First Teams. He won NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2018 and 2019.
Green is a three-time NBA champion, he has been a crucial part in the Warriors run to the NBA finals these past five seasons. Green has appeared in 123 NBA playoff games, averaging 12.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks in 35.6 minutes played.
