Earlier today, it was announced that Greg Olsen would not be returning to the Carolina Panthers next year.
Olsen, 36, still wants to play the sport. Whether he returns to Chicago or plays elsewhere still remains to be seen.
Last year, Olsen had 597 receiving yards, but only two touchdowns, his second-lowest total in a Panthers uniform (1 in 2017). Christian McCaffrey became the focal point of the offense in 2019, setting numerous records.
While Olsen is no longer with the team, he enjoyed some of his best season in a Panthers uniform. His best came in 2015, when he recorded 1,104 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
While in Carolina, Olsen became the first tight end in NFL history to record three-consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (2014, 2015, 2016).
Olsen will be missed by Panthers fans, but his departure provides Chris Manhertz and Ian Thomas more time to prove themselves as the Panthers’ top tight end.
