After being a backup to Alabama Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa in the 2018-19 season, quarterback Jalen Hurts has announced that he will be transferring to Oklahoma.
Here is what Hurts said in his announcement via The Players Tribune:
“I’ve decided to take my talents to the University of Oklahoma, where I will continue my development as both a quarterback and as a student,” Hurts wrote.
The junior will likely be the favorite to win the starting QB position for the Sooners now that Kyler Murray has declared for the NFL draft.
Jeff Mussatto of The Oklahoman also reported that Hurts had visited Maryland and Miami before committing to OU.
Hurts had a 23-2 record at Alabama, throwing for 5,626 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes.
