Floyd Mayweather’s fight with Andre Berto last week brought in very disappointing PPV numbers. The bout billed as Mayweather’s final fight before retirement gained a rough estimate of 400,000 buys. This will be the lowest figure for a Mayweather fight since a lackluster 325,000 buys vs. Carlos Baldomir in 2006.
To compare, Mayweather’s fight in May against Manny Pacquiao generated 4.6 million buys. Whether a result of fans getting sick of his style after the dream bout with Pacquiao or the poor hype vs. a weak opponent, this is an extremely disappointing way for the guy who boasts about his drawing power to go out.
