Los Angeles Lakers D’Angelo Russell was drafted second overall with the hopes of becoming a future superstar. The rookie is off to a very slow start in a tough situation with the Lakers and having to split time fellow guards Kobe Bryant and Jordan Clarkson.
Russell was demoted from the starting lineup. While he wasn’t originally happy about the decision, he mentioned one very specific reason to be grateful for playing with the second unit:
“There’s just more ball movement. No disrespect to Kobe, but you know you have more opportunity because of who he is.”
He ain’t lying. Kobe is shooting at a high volume for putrid percentages, but it is his farewell tour and that’s what we want to see. You can wait another year, D’Angelo.
