This is the 26th installment of a series of articles covering each player on the Cleveland Browns roster. There will be a new player released every day from now until the Browns preseason begins. If you enjoy (tolerate) this article, I encourage you to check back each day to read each one. I try to keep these articles short and sweet.
#41- Lenzy Pipkins– CB- Oklahoma State
Lenzy Pipkins is an all-time great name. As if having a unique last name like Pipkins wasn’t enough, his parents got greedy and gave him an awesome first name to go with it. I can’t even imagine how jealous Carl Davis and Chris Smith have to be. Another fun fact about Lenzy is that he is cousins with Jamie Foxx.
Pipkins is with his fourth team in over two years after being signed by Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He played 12 games as a rookie with the Packers, then was traded to the Colts in the offseason. He made one start for Indianapolis before being waived and signed by Detroit, where he played another two games. All in all, he has played in 15 games in his career, making 24 tackles in the process.
Cornerback has been a big focus in Cleveland since the arrival of John Dorsey. He has already used a first and a second round draft pick to shore up the position. I’m not going to pretend that I have studied game film of Lenzy, but I really am pulling for him to make this roster. He seems like a genuinely good guy and has a foundation where he awards scholarships to local youth at his church who have demonstrated success in the classroom and puts on youth camps in his hometown of Arlington, Texas. I know that none of that has to do with helping the Browns, but it’s pretty neat to see these young guys give back.
