This is the tenth installment of a series of articles covering each player on the Cleveland Browns roster. There will be a new player released every day from now until the Browns preseason begins. If you enjoy (tolerate) this article, I encourage you to check back each day to read each one. I try to keep them short and sweet.

#55- Genard Avery– LB- Memphis

I call him Genard “Butler” Avery because he is an absolute “Gamer”. When he is getting after the quarterback it’s like he has a “Headhunter’s Calling”. I’m sure he is ready to “Rock n Roll”, especially after his Defensive Coordinator, “The Bounty Hunter”, Gregg Williams was let go this offseason. Hey Genard, “P.S. I Love You”.

Avery was able to record 4.5 sacks last season as a rookie. He played in all 16 games with the Browns, but only made 5 starts. Not bad for a 5th round draft pick. Genard became a fan favorite after starting the season as a relative unknown .

The Browns have so many weapons on their defensive line. It almost seems unfair to be able to throw Avery out there as an edge rusher as well. Dorsey and the Browns are hoping he will be able to replace Jamie Collins. In order to do that he will have to master the art of give half-hearted tackle attempts then jogging behind the play.

If you enjoyed these Gerard Butler movie puns, be sure to check out yesterday’s breakdown on Pharaoh Brown.
