This is the 11th installment of a series of articles covering each player on the Cleveland Browns roster. There will be a new player released every day from now until the Browns preseason begins. If you enjoy (tolerate) this article, I encourage you to check back each day to read each one. Just like David here, I try to keep them short and sweet.
#9- David Blough– QB- Purdue
David Blough is one of two quarterbacks in the NFL who are 6’0 tall, hail from Texas, have the initials D.B., played their college ball at Purdue, and wear the number 9. The other guy? Drew Brees. Coincidence? I think not.
Admittedly, I have watched approximately 0 minutes of film on Blough, but I feel comfortable predicting that he is going to be an absolute stud. Unfortunately, no quarterback besides Baker is going to see the field for Cleveland again until at least the year 2040.
For the first time in a long time the Browns don’t have to worry about the quarterback position. In years past, I would’ve really looked into Blough and tried to convince myself that he could be a diamond in the rough. Just like I did with Charlie Frye, Brian Hoyer, Colt McCoy… you get the picture. The Browns currently have four quarterbacks on the roster. Aside from Baker, it seems like Drew Stanton is probably a safe bet to make the squad due to his veteran presence. I would assume they will only keep 2 QB’s on the roster, unlike most seasons where the Browns go through 3-5 players at that position.
