This is the 58th installment of a series of articles covering each player on the Cleveland Browns roster. A new player will be previewed every day from now until the Browns preseason begins. If you enjoy (tolerate) this article, I encourage you to check back each day to read each one. I try to keep these articles short and sweet.

#92- Chad Thomas– DE- Miami

I call this guy Chad Thomas “Edison” because he is going to light some people up this year. After struggling to get much playing time last season, he is going to have to re-invent himself. I have a feeling a “light bulb” is going to go off for the second year lineman. It is also fitting that Thomas will be playing in First Energy Stadium this season, I’m sure the atmosphere for all of those home games is going to be electric.

Thomas was the Browns’ 3rd round draft pick in 2018. That’s why fans were disappointed he wasn’t able to see the field much last year. To add more pressure on the young defensive end, he was part of a draft class that brought Cleveland Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Antonio Callaway, and Genard Avery. Thomas and Austin Corbett were the only players from that group who failed to really produce. He did play in 4 games, but did not record a meaningful statistic on the season.

It’s no secret that the Browns added a ton of talent and depth to their defensive line over the offseason. John Dorsey traded for Olivier Vernon and signed Sheldon Richardson to team up with incumbent starters, Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi. These signings will make it even harder for Thomas to get playing time. John Dorsey obviously saw something in him to use a 3rd rounder so I’m not giving hope yet.
