This is the 17th installment of a series of articles covering each player on the Cleveland Browns roster. There will be a new player released every day from now until the Browns preseason begins. If you enjoy (tolerate) this article, I encourage you to check back each day to read each one. I try to keep these articles short and sweet.
#11- Antonio Callaway– WR- Florida
The Browns offense really came alive in the second half of last season. That was, in part, due to Antonio Callaway’s ability to take the top off of defenses. It turns out that using Callaway is a great way to improve your long game. I believe that he will be able to help Cleveland’s offense be on par with the other top teams in the league.
From all accounts, Antonio has made great strides over his first NFL offseason. Last year he hauled in almost 600 yards with five touchdowns. One would imagine that he should be able to improve on those numbers with opposing defenses keying in on OBJ and Jarvis Landry.
New offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, made the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the best passing offense (total yards) in the NFL last season. He was able to do so with journeyman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and crab thief, Jameis Winston under center. One of the reasons he was able to have such an explosive offense was his use of speedster Desean Jackson. I’m not saying that Callaway is already at Jackson’s level, but they do have similar skillsets.
