The Cincinnati Reds are essentially in the middle of the MLB pack (tied 15th) when it comes to team home runs (189) in 2019. However, Eugenio Suarez and Aristides Aquino have provided Reds fans with some big-time excitement of late by hitting the long ball.
Suarez has bombed 18 of his 38 home runs since the All-star game, which leads MLB. His 38 dingers are fifth-best in baseball and has him only five home runs shy of leader Mike Trout (43). Suarez now has back to back 30 home run seasons.
With another home run in Thursday night’s game, Aquino has set the NL rookie record for most in a month with 14. The previous record-holder is a name most might recognize, Cody Bellinger. Aquino is nicknamed “The Punisher” and he has lived up to that moniker since making his major league debut. Throw in a .315 batting average and 29 RBI’s in 26 games and you have an extremely exciting rookie phenom in Cincy.
The future is looking bright for the Reds with these two long-ball hitters.
