With the fifth pick in the 2019 NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Darius Garland out of Vanderbilt University. The former Commodores guard averaged 16.2 points per game in 5 games in his only collegiate season.
Garland will look to pair up with Collin Sexton in the backcourt in John Beilein’s two-guard system that was put on display at the University of Michigan.
As of right now, Cleveland has one more pick in this years NBA draft at pick No. 26, but according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs are actively shopping JR Smith’s partially guaranteed contract in hopes of landing another first-rounder.
