According to former ESPN reporter, Brett McMurphy, UCONN plans to leave the AAC and rejoin the Big East in all sponsored sports.
The Huskies left the Big East in 2013 in what has been a very failed move on their part. UCONN was losing a large amount of money in the AAC and was in a poor geographic location compared to the rest of the conference.
All UCONN sports plan to make the move by 2020, but their football team will need other plans. The Big East doesn’t sponsor any football teams, so they will look to join the MAC or C-USA. If neither of those options works, they may be forced to become independent.
