BREAKING: Ravens Sign Free Safety Earl Thomas

(Bettina Hansen / The Seattle Times)

The Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran Free Safety Earl Thomas, according to Adam Schefter.

Thomas, 29, is coming off a season-ending leg injury which left a bad taste in Seahawks fans mouths after he was seen flipping the team off as he was carted off the field. Thomas is a 3-time all pro and 6-time pro-bowler who has now signed what is possibly the last contract of his career.

While some say the Ravens are taking a risk signing a soon-to-be 30-year-old safety who is recovering from a fractured leg, the fact of the matter is they just locked up one of the best safeties in football. And with the Cleveland Browns making big splashes, like trading for O’Dell Beckham Jr., the Ravens will need every piece they can to compete with the Browns to defend their AFC North title.

This signing definitely fills the void left by Eric Weddle after he signed a 2-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

BREAKING: The Ravens have also signed former Saints running back Mark Ingram, according to Adam Schefter.
