Kyle Korver, one of the most prominent sharpshooters in NBA history, was sent to Memphis earlier this offseason as a part of the package that acquired PG Mike Conley. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Korver is headed for his second stop of this summer tour, Phoenix. Going with Korver will be second-year point guard Jevon Carter. Carter averaged just over four points per game last season, adding in nearly two rebounds and two assists per game as well. The Suns are, however, expected to buy-out Korver’s partially guaranteed remaining contract. Look for teams like the Lakers, Sixers, or even the Milwaukee Bucks to bring in the veteran three-point specialist.
In exchange, Phoenix will be sending former 4th overall pick Josh Jackson, and guard De’Anthony Melton to Memphis. The Grizzlies were also able to secure the Suns’ 2020 2nd round pick, and a conditional 2021 second as well. With this move, the Suns have freed up enough cap space to officially sign Ricky Rubio to the three-year $51M deal that was reached earlier in free agency.
