Per Adam Schefter, Melvin Gordon will not be reporting to training camp without a new contract. Gordon also mentioned he will demand a trade if he doesn’t see anything close to what some of these other players are getting. According to his agent, Fletcher Smith, neither of them are happy with the Los Angeles Chargers who haven’t shown much interest in offers.
Other news reports that Gordon may end up sitting out the regular season.
Gordon has been solid, scoring 38 touchdowns within three seasons. However, over the years, injuries (knee and hip) have caused him to miss some time and slow him down.
Training camp starts July 24th, hopefully, the 26-year-old, two-time Pro Bowler will know something by then. If not, it appears he is serious about holding out until something better comes along.
