Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward Kevin Love has backed out of the Team USA training camp ahead of the FIBA World Cup. The 30-year-old played just 22 games last season while dealing with a toe injury.
Love joins a long list of basketball superstars to withdraw from the FIBA World Cup roster, including Zion Williamson, Damian Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, and others. As the training camp roster continues to shrink, more young, up-and-coming players may get a chance to shine on the international stage, including Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown.
Meanwhile, Love will focus on his health and look to lead a group of young and rebuilding Cavs during the 2019-20 NBA campaign. Even with four years left on his contract, expect plenty of trade rumors surrounding the five-time All-Star this season.
