BREAKING: Juwan Howard Signs 5-Year Deal; Becomes Michigan’s Next Head Coach

The former Wolverine has officially been hired to lead his alma mater into the post-John Beilein era

The University of Michigan has finalized a five-year deal with Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard to become the next head coach of the men’s basketball team.


Howard attended Michigan from 1991 to 1994 before leaving after his junior season.

He was part of the infamous “Fab Five” squad which included Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson which took Michigan to two National Championship games and an Elite Eight appearance their junior season.

Howard has spent the last six seasons under Erik Spoelstra on the Miami Heat coaching staff. He also recently interviewed with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves for their head coaching vacancies.
