Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Dallas Cowboys and LB Jaylon Smith have come to terms on a contract extension that will keep him in Dallas long term. It is reported to be a five-year deal worth $64 million, $35M of which is guaranteed. This is huge money for a key piece of Dallas’ young defensive core.
With the Big 3 of Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper still looking for extensions heading into this season, this deal should sure up some of the questions on defense. In the meantime, this deal will lock up the star-studded tandem of Smith and Leighton Vander-Esch for the foreseeable future.
