The Browns didn’t have a first round pick this year but still managed to draft a first-round talent in the middle of the second round.
Cleveland moved up three spots in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to select LSU cornerback Greedy Williams.
To move up three spots, the Browns gave up the 144th overall selection in the fifth round to Indianapolis.
Williams was projected as a mid to late first round pick but slipped out after reports surfaced that he didn’t take a pre-draft visit with any team which did leave some concerns regarding the prospect.
He’s a tall, athletic corner (6’2, 187 lbs) with some great speed (4.37) but scouting reports suggest he needs to add some muscle and also improve his tackling.
Williams now joins a cornerback room with 2018 first round pick Denzel Ward and veterans Terrence Mitchell and T.J. Carrie that has some talent and now depth with this selection.
Add in Damarious Randall, Morgan Burnett and Eric Murray and the Browns have some depth and serious talent in the secondary and all along that defense in Cleveland.
