According to Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo, the Blue Jays have called up the league’s top prospect, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vlad Jr. will make his major league debut on Friday against the Oakland Athletics. The highly touted prospect is hitting .333/.400/.578 with three home runs and nine runs batted in on 45 at-bats this season.
His .331 batting average and 20 home runs from last season in the minors made the league antsy about the call-up and now he’s finally here, ladies and gentlemen. The son of the great Vladimir Guerrero will finally begin his MLB career.
Toronto (11-14) is currently third in the AL East and stands at 21st in the league in batting average, 25th in on-base percentage, 22nd in slugging percentage, and 23rd in OPS. So Vlad Jr. will be providing a much-needed bat to the Blue Jays lineup.
