The Oakland Athletics continue to add to their starting rotation after acquiring Cincinnati Reds Tanner Roark Wednesday for minor league prospect Jack Hannah.
This comes just a couple of weeks after the A’s traded for another starter in Homer Bailey. However, the Bailey experiment hasn’t come to fruition like they originally thought as he’s struggled in three starts. Roark gives them more depth until the return of lefty Sean Manaea (IL) and right-hander Frankie Montas (suspension).
Roark is in his second year with the Reds after spending the past five years with the Washington Nationals. On the season, he’s 6-7 with a 4.24 ERA across 21 starts.
Cincinnati receives Oakland’s No. 8 prospect Jameson Hannah. The outfielder was the Athletics second-round pick during the 2018 MLB Draft. Hannah has been playing at the High-A level, where he’s posted a .283/.341/.381 batting line in 414 plate appearances.
The A’s currently sit second in the Wild Card standings with the Tampa Bay Rays a half-game back.
