Boston Celtics to Trade #1 Overall Pick to Philadelphia 76ers, Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz looks to be headed to Philadelphia as the #1 pick at the NBA draft on June 22nd. The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers have all but finalized a deal to swap the #1 and #3 picks in the NBA draft. The Celtics will receive an additional first-round draft pick in either 2018 or 2019 as well.

Fultz attended a workout and meeting with the 76ers on Saturday. He would be joining a young core featuring Joel Embiid and last years #1 overall pick, Ben Simmons. The 76ers are looking to build a big three of their own internally that could compete in the next couple of years, barring injury. Going back through the last 4 drafts, the 76ers will have had two #3 picks (Embiid and Okafor) and two #1 picks (Simmons and Fultz). Not a bad way to build a team if you can handle the bottom-dweller suffering for 4 consecutive years.

Look for finalization of the deal to be announced Monday.
