Caitlin Dunne is a star on the rise. She works at MyRacehorse, a company changing the game by offering real racehorse ownership to everyone with shares starting under $100, and is one of the company's pillars. She is a celebrity to the people, horses, and the ownership groups. They know Caitlin, and they love her. For example, the crowd erupted when Straight No Chaser won the Breeders' Cup Sprint a few weeks back. Hundreds of his micro-share owners stormed to the winner's circle. The owners had waited years to see their horse win at the top level. They were ready to party. The person who met them at the gate and slowed them down was Caitlin Dunne. She commanded the crowd. She asked them to calm down. To wait until the NBC crew wrapped, and then they could all get their photo taken. They all listened. She commands respect.
Caitlin grew up in the racing industry. Her parents, Ciaran and Amy, own and operate Wavertree Stables in Ocala, Fla. They are one of the most respected and loved families in the game. Her father hails from Ireland and is a real horseman. They specialize in what is known as pinhooking. They buy yearlings and sell them as 2-year-olds. Caitlin says, "It's very akin to flipping a house. That's kind of how we put it in layman's terms." The farm also boasts one of the country's elite breaking and training facilities. Some elite horses who have come through their program include Seize the Grey, Roy H, Stormy Liberal, Country Grammar, Diamond Oops, Dream Tree, Hot Rod Charlie, Leinster, and Shakespeare.
Caitlin swam through college. She was not really setting her sights on working in the industry. When Covid hit in 2020, she returned to Ocala, Florida. She started working on the farm. It was more hands-on, and she got bit by the racing bug. Her boyfriend (now fiance) Riley Ward connected her with a friend who worked in marketing for MyRacehorse. Caitlin got the job as "events manager," or as she likes to call it, "a pony party planner." Caitlin does everything from curating the behind-the-scenes experiences fans enjoy to helping with the custom clothes the owners wear.
Caitlin works harder than anyone in racing. When you see her at a MyRacehorse event, she speeds around the track faster than a Formula 1 car. She lives and breathes racing, and her goal is to make sure every owner has the time of their life. Her fiance is the son of Wesley Ward, one of the greatest trainers in horse racing history. Her best friend is FanDuel TV's Andie Biancone. Anyone who is anyone in racing knows Caitlin, and we look forward to you getting to know her, too.
