On a recent episode of The Carlos Baerga Show — streaming on the BIGPLAY app — hosts Gab Goudy and Carlos Baerga laid it out plainly: the Cleveland Guardians can’t afford to lose Steven Kwan.

“Kwan is unbelievable… we need to re him up. Get him a new contract ready. Keep him around forever. Please,” Gab said.

Baerga didn’t just agree — he joked fans might even pass the hat themselves to help keep Kwan in Cleveland for the next six years. It might sound like a stretch, but it shows how much Kwan means to this team and this city.

Since Kenny Lofton and Grady Sizemore, the Guardians haven’t had a true spark plug at the top of the lineup. Kwan brings that: working counts, getting on base, and setting the tone every night.

“When you have a product like that — a special product — I think we should keep it here,” Baerga added.

For Guardians fans, it’s pretty simple: lock up Kwan, keep the core together, and keep hope alive.
