There is no love lost between Odell Beckham Jr. and the New York Giants these days.

The new Cleveland Browns wide receiver has not been shy to speak about his time as a New York Giant, or how he felt about the trade that sent him to Cleveland. The bad blood between Beckham and his former team continue to boil. Now, as the 2019 NFL season is about to begin, Beckham has revealed more details about the trade.

While speaking to Ben Baskin of Sports Illustrated, the 3x Pro-Bowl wide receiver claimed there were a few better offers on the table than what New York got in exchange for Beckham, but opted to make the trade to Cleveland instead. Beckham claims New York sent him to Cleveland to “die.”

“This wasn’t no business move,” Beckham said. “This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die.”

After the trade, Beckham felt “hurt” and “disrespected” by the way his former team handled the situation while being told by the Giants they wouldn’t actually trade Beckham anywhere the year before. One can only imagine the hurt that can cause, especially to someone like Odell Beckham Jr.

Throughout all the negative comments and disdain for his former team, Beckham has enjoyed his time in Cleveland thus far. He’s able to re-join a former college teammate in Jarvis Landry and Browns number one overall pick, Baker Mayfield. Combine that with other players like Nick Chubb, Rashard Higgins, and Kareem Hunt, while also having a potential top-5 defense, what’s not to like about this team right now?

If the Giants did in-fact send Beckham to Cleveland to “die”, they didn’t succeed. The Browns have been the hottest team and the talk of the offseason, as they look to end a playoff drought that has been going for more than 15 years.

The Browns are no longer “that team” where careers go to end. That’s the title the Giants hold now.
