The New Orleans Pelicans were hoping to take a big step forward in contending for a NBA Championship this season. Things aren’t going according to plan with a 10-21 start to the season and the fourth worst record in the league. Luckily, they are just four games out of a playoff spot in the surprisingly shallow Western Conference.
Still, following another bad loss, Anthony Davis expressed frustration with the Pelicans not playing hard. Head coach Alvin Gentry decided to bench his starters late in the game and Davis said the following:
“It was frustration with the game. We’re coming out the third quarter and we’re not playing hard. They are doing everything they want and we’re turning the ball over. We were down four then we were down 10. It was just frustration with us not playing hard, including myself.”
Davis and the Pelicans will have to work extremely hard to turn this around.
